Happy 94th Birthday! 3-21-09  / JIM PFEIFER (SON)

Dear Mother,

I found several more items, getting ready for this year's garage sale and I realized that we are approaching your birthday soon on March 21st! I scanned and added what I found to your site for others to see.

This will be my seventh week in a row of going to church! I sit with Robert and I really enjoy myself. Its so funny, its like you anticipated me going back to my bible and in the book of Romans especially where you have hand written notations that you had the foresight that I eventually would read and I did!

Now that it's Spring, your request will be fullfilled in joining Dad on Victoria Island, BC.

Love Always,

Jim

P.S. I'm sorry that Barbara didn't get to make the trip with us that she wanted to so bad.  She felt the obligation and loved you dearly but will be with us in spirit.

ONE YEAR  / Jim Pfeifer (Son)  Read >>
ONE YEAR  / Jim Pfeifer (Son)

Dear Mother,
It's been one year since the Lord took you, now I'm not sure where He took you. I've read in my Bible that He prepared a place for you. I'm just not clear when you go there and everyone has an opinion.
When Barbara and I left the Rose Bowl it seems to me we had to stop for her for a few minutes at Kaiser and then on to Palm Desert. I remember that you recognized us both and were happy to see us. I believe we spent the night and I came back and visited you the following day, spent a few hours with you and then had to come home. It was Barbara's premonition that early Friday morning on the 4th that urged her to tell me to get back over there right away with you, so I did. I arranged for the Pastor to come and see you, read to you out of the Bible from Ecclesiastes. Stayed with you until about 11 o'clock, and the nurse called me at 2 a.m. on the 5th and said that you went peacefully.
You were a kind, warm, and loving mother that had a hard life. You always seemed to be there for me and you discouraged anyone saying anything negative about me. I realize we all have our faults and I have many. I'm so appreciative that you were able to overlook those. Depending where you are, you should probably know that Barbara passed away on July 27th, 2008 and since you were really on top of things you probably realize how hard this last holiday has been. There's just me, baby kitty and Ginger now. I went through the whole football season but I just couldn’t put myself through the Rose Bowl thing again. I'm writing this in the first person as though you are reading it...
I say my prayers every night and ask God's forgiveness, I've completely changed my attitude and outlook on life as I hope the good Lord has a place for me as he did you and Barbara and Dad.
I got a card and a letter from two great friends, that’s called Merry Christmas from Heaven. The last verse says I love you all dearly now don’t shed a tear cause I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year. So when my time comes, I hope to see you all again.

Your loving Son,
Jim

Hello friends,
I want to express my regrets at the loss of Frances, but at the same time I would like you all to be thankful to God for the long and productive life she had. Not all had that blessing. Jim, it was an honor to be able to be at her bedside just hours before she moved on to rest till the Lord will call her to come out of the place of the dead. Jim, and family, please never forget that your mother had one wish and only one for you - that your relationship with the Creator will be of such that she will be able to see you soon. If I can be of any service, or Needles Seventh-day Adventist Church, please let us know. We owe that to you and your mother.

God bless.

What a woman!  / Vicki Horst (Niece)  Read >>
What a woman!  / Vicki Horst (Niece)
My Aunt Frances was a wonderful woman. She was full of love and encouragement for her family as well as all she met. Some of my memories are of an Easter egg hunt at her house in Costa Mesa. The whole family would gather and celebrate all day. All the cousins would hunt for eggs and candy and spend the day eating good food and enjoying each other. I remember her curio cabinets full of little dogs, miniature vases and spoons collected from around the world. She was an excellent crafts woman. She made me many things throughout my life that I will always treasure. She was also an avid reader and I loved discussing some of our favorite authors and books. She was always so loving and giving. She was a sweet, sweet soul and will be missed by her family and all who knew her! Close

Her Lagacy  / Michael Schroeder (Acquaintance)
As a part time resident of Needles, I only got to meet and speak with Frances on a few occasions over the years.  She was always so very pleasant.  What I admired most is how she spoke of her son, Jim.  As a young man, I would often wonder if my my own mother would someday speak so admirably and eloquently about me.

You see, Jim and I spend many an hour sitting on deck and dock alike watching the stars under the constant migration of the great Colorado River.  It tends to cleanse a man's soul, placate any dilemmas and generally promote good conversation.  We would discuss philosphies of ideas and the rationalism of our decisions.  We would ultimately talk about Mom's, Wives and children (the ones we both love the most).

By virtue of great discourse, I came to realize that Jim is a fine man, a very fine man.  And I know in my heart that it took it took an absolutely wonderful lady to raise this fine man.

We were lucky to know Frances and just as fornunate to know part of her legacy, Jim.

Best wishes to Jim and Barbera (Bobbi).

Love,

Michael Schroeder
